Week of Giving draws big support for TCNJ

Week of Giving draws big support for TCNJ

Students were invited to paint and decorate kindness rocks for TSC Park, part of Week of Giving 2024.

For the ninth consecutive year, the TCNJ community came together to show their support of the college, but with a new spin. What was traditionally celebrated as the Day of Giving was expanded in 2024 to create five full days of Lions love that raised over $440,000 for scholarships and programs at TCNJ.

Throughout the first-ever Week of Giving, each of the college’s seven academic schools hosted events designed to build community through fun activities like potting flowers, building LEGO creations, assembling puzzles, and writing poetry and thank-you notes using an old-fashioned typewriter (a first for some students!). The gatherings also provided a chance to raise awareness of the importance of supporting the college through philanthropy.

“Alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and students collectively supported programs, scholarships, and opportunities that change lives,” Christine Buber ’12, MA ’15, director of annual giving, said. “It was a truly inspiring week for TCNJ.”

Among the week’s highlights:

  • over 1,600 donors supported their chosen cause with gifts, ranging from $1 to $50,000;
  • all 15 challenge gifts were unlocked, doubling donor gifts for a total of $144,000;
  • 26% of donors made their gifts directly to support scholarship projects
